Today’s Reading: Acts 24:14-21

“But I confess this to you: that according to the Way, which they call a sect, so I worship my fathers’ God, believing all the things that are written in the Law and in the Prophets.

Acts 24: 14

Reflection: All of Scripture talks about Jesus. Paul explains to Governor Felix that as a believer in Jesus and His Way, he is upholding the Law and Prophets of Scripture. Paul is saying that worshiping Jesus is the same as worshiping the God of his Jewish fathers. In other words, Jesus is God. The Law and the Prophets are ways that God the Father exposes Jesus’ identity as the One Who would save people from the consequences of sin. The need for Jesus’ salvation is shown through God’s Law, which is too difficult for us to follow perfectly on our own. The promise of Jesus’ salvation is spoken by God’s Prophets, who talk throughout the ages about the coming of a much needed Savior. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the same God Who died on the Cross and rose from the grave.

Reflection Questions:

– When worshiping Jesus, why is it important to know that He is the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets?

– What would the world be like without the work that Jesus did on the Cross? How does Christ’s Death and Resurrection affect you today?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love shown through Jesus. Thank You for saving me from my sin and doing the work that I could not do for myself. I walk in freedom because of Your saving grace. I pray for Your Wisdom to comprehend more fully the lengths You went to save me, that I would be propelled into a life more pleasing to You in response to Your great love. I pray all of these things in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
