Today’s Reading: Psalm 111

The Lord’s works are great, studied by all who delight in them.

Psalm 111:2

Reflection: All that the LORD does is truly great. From the delicate touches He designs on the smallest of Creation to the grandest displays of His mighty Hand, God’s works invoke wonder of Him and prompt praises to Him. The vast expanse of mountain ranges are as stunning as the intricate details of a butterfly. The howl of a hurricane is as remarkable as the cheerful birdsong. The clouds that move throughthe skies reveal God’s glory just as does the stillness of stars in a clear night sky. All that the LORD has created declares His praises. Not one thing made by His hand is mundane. It is all wondrous because He is wondrous.

When gifted with eyes opened to see His great works, ears opened to hear the sounds of the world He’s created, and senses keen to experience His goodness, we are brought to utter delight in our LORD. There is no end to the awe prompted by remembering all that He is done. Just in our present surroundings, all we have to do is seek His fingerprints upon His work to know Him more fully, and to be convinced that He truly is wonderful. One need only open their eyes and look around to witness countless testaments to His greatness. How much more is there to be reminded of throughout time: the promises that He’s established for His people, the rescue that He’s provided time and time again, the blessings of constant care that He’s bestowed so generously? More so, there is the work of the LORD’s only Begotten Son, Whose Death alone is cause for all worship and praise.

There is so much to be reminded of about God, and so much for which we can give thanks. Even at our lowest times and in the most difficult situations, all of the LORD’s work for His people and to His glory is more than enough stir within His people everlasting hope and joy. Therefore, follower of God, continue to study the works of the LORD, and to recount how He has revealed Himself throughout the ages. Receive the blessing of delight in all He has done.

Prayer: Everlasting God, I delight in You. I remember Your great works and am filled with joy. I recount Your many blessings and am filled with gratitutde. I recall the great Work of Your Son, Jesus, and am prompted to exalt and worship You. There is no one like You, LORD, none throughout the heavens and the earth Who can do what You do or has done any of what You have done and continue to do. I praise You LORD. You are the only One deserving of praise and glory. This day, I pray that You fill my mind with thoughts of You. Open my eyes to more clearly see around me the mark of Your Almighty Hand. I lift these requests up to You, Father, in the Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, AMEN.
