Today’s Reading: Psalm 46:1-7

God is our refuge and strength, a Helper who is always found in times of trouble.

Psalm 46:1

Reflection

The Kingdom of God is firmly established. Unlike the kingdoms of the earth which rise and fall, the Kingdom which God establishes can never be shaken. This is because God is its refuge and strength. God Himself dwells among the people of His Kingdom, and because of His Presence the Kingdom is indestructible.

Like a river whose streams infiltrate the city, the LORD moves throughout His Kingdom. He brings endless joy and delight to those who dwell with Him. He is the One Who sustains the people and provides all they need. While there are entities which rage around God’s Kingdom, enemies that may approach and surround them, the people need not fear. Since God is their refuge and strength, although troubles may come, they cannot overcome those who are near to the LORD. When we receive the invitation to dwell with God, we can be assured of His constant nearness to us. When we become a part of His Kingdom, we can know that He is our protection and power. There is true delight in finding our dwelling place with the Almighty God, and choosing to be His. There is complete safety that is found within His fold.

Prayer

LORD God, thank You for being my source of safety and strength. I am humbled that You draw near to me by Your grace. I am so grateful that You sustain me. I find delight in Your Presence this day, LORD. Because of Your mighty power and boundless love, I will continue to put my trust in You. In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray, AMEN.
