Today’s Reading: Psalm 100

Acknowledge that the Lord is God. He made us, and we are His – His people, the sheep of His pasture.

Psalm 100:3

Reflection

The Lord God calls us to shout triumphantly unto Him. He calls us to serve Him with gladness and come before Him in joyful songs. We are to enter into His Presence, to give thanks to Him, to praise Him. And we are called to do all of these things in harmony as one people. As much as God desires to meet with us privately and personally, He also desires that we come to Him as a gathered Body of Christ. He connects all generations by His unending love. He unites us unto Himself as one flock, one family, one Church. He joins us together by the Truth of His Word and the Power of His Spirit to do His Will. We as believers in Christ please our God when we worship Him together.

Reflection Questions:

– Read Psalm 100. Imagine doing all of the actions in the Psalm by yourself. What would the experience be like? Now imagine you are doing these same things, but with 100 other people. How would the experience be different?

– What do you think is God’s purpose for gathering His people together instead of keeping them separated from each other? What is the benefit of serving and worshiping God together with other people instead of alone?

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for calling me Your own and for bringing me into Your Family. Thank You for showing me Your abounding love through Your Church. I pray that You continue to bring us closer together as we grow closer to You. Show us ways to draw near to You and to each other. I pray all of these things in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
