Today’s Reading: Psalm 13

I will sing to the Lord because He has treated me generously.

Psalm 13:6

Reflection

When it seems that the LORD is far away, when it looks as if He has forgotten His people, we must recall all that He has done for us. Recollection assures that He is generous to bless and loving to keep us. Why would the Eternal God invest all of His resources in order to sustain us, or why would He keep and care for us every moment if He were ever planning to forsake us? The LORD is surely not like that. As people who are living in a world of brokenness and suffering, we are too accustomed to experiencing people fail us or let us down. We ride on the current of normalcy waiting until trials crash upon us. We assume that God is that way as well. But His ways are unlike the that of the fallen world. People are here today and gone tomorrow. Creation blossoms one day and withers the next. But the LORD our God is eternal, and is eternally generous with His blessings and His Presence.

As we rest in God’s generosity towards us, we need only look around to be certain that He is faithful. But even if we were unable to see our blessings, we would have more than enough assurance in the Love that He has shown us through His Son Jesus Christ. Would God leave those for whom His own Son has died? No. The LORD has invested His all in His people, and He will therefore never forget or neglect us.

Prayer

Loving God, You never leave nor forsake. You are generous to love and swift to bless. You, the King of kings, are so good to me. Thank You for Your wondrous Works, especially all that You have done through Your Son Jesus Christ. I praise You for Your Faithfulness. Please, LORD, let my trust in You never waver. Help me to always rest in Your great and steadfast Love. I pray all of these things in Your Beloved Son Jesus’ Holy Name, AMEN.
