Today’s Reading: Job 40:1-12

The Lord answered Job: “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct [Him]? Let him who argues with God give an answer.”

Job 40:1

Monday Reflection: In realizing the Presence of God in his midst, Job changes this tone with God. During His difficult time of suffering, and in the presence of his friends, Job demanded an audience with God. But when He hears the Almighty God answering him from a great whirlwind, Job says, “I place my hand over my mouth.” In the Presence of God, Job declares himself insignificant. In understanding God’s perfect Justice, Job sees his inability to justify himself. In light of God’s Majesty and Splendor, Job sees his own faults and failures. In being reminded of God’s Greatness, Job is humbled. The Glory of the Creator of the Universe shifts Job’s perspective of himself.

Reflection Questions:

In this Scripture reading, what is one description of God that stands out to you? Why?

How does this description of God affect how you see yourself in comparison to Him? How can this perspective be a good thing?

Prayer: Lord God, You are indeed Almighty. You are Powerful and Holy, full of Glory. There is none like You. I am humbled to know You. I am in need of You each day. I pray that my increased understanding of You this today would help me to better understand who you have created me to be. I pray these things in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
