Today’s Reading: Psalm 105:1-25

When they were few in number, very few indeed, and temporary residents in Canaan, wandering from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another, He allowed no one to oppress them; He rebuked kings on their behalf:

Psalm 105:12-14

Reflection: No matter how small they are in number, no matter where they are, or what situation they find themselves in, the people of God need only to cling to God for all that they need to be brought by Him. Remember Israel, frail and weak, without a land to call their own as they followed the LORD through the lands of other nations and to their Promised Land. They had no army, they had no home, but they had more than enough because God was with them. He was the One Who forbade harm against them. He was the One Who brought devastation against those Who did not heed His warning. Because this people had the LORD, they wanted for nothing. Remember how the people wandered in the desert for decades, how all the while their needs were met by the LORD. They were satisfied from hunger and drank their fill of water. Not even their clothes were worn as they traveled all those years, since the LORD was sure to preserve them until He had brought them to the place He had promised.

What blessing it is to seek God’s Face and find Him even in the midst of turmoil. In times of destitution, what relief it is to know that He is good. The LORD’s beloved remain like a tree that flourishes beside an ever-flowing stream. As long as it remains near to the Living Water, it thrives enough to bear the choicest fruit from its branches. The LORD is for His people, but are we mindful to stay at His side? With God is our only hope, our only protection, and our only need.

Prayer: Wonderful Father, thank You for being so kind and merciful to me. I need not fear those against me, for You are with me. I need not ever worry about what is to come or what has been, for You bring me through as I continually follow You. Thank You LORD, for keeping me by Your grace. Thank You for providing my every need. Thank You for Your boundless and wondrous love. I pray that You grow my trust in You. Please teach me to have increasing faith in You. Show me how to live more boldly for Your Namesake, that I would know more fully the sweetness of resting in Your Presence. I pray these things in the Name of Jesus Christ my Savior, AMEN.
