Today’s Reading: Daniel 2:24-30

“…there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.”

Daniel 2:28a

Reflection: Daniel prays for God to help him understand King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, and God generously gives Daniel not only the dream itself, but also the ability to interpret it. When summoned by the King to share what God has revealed to him, Daniel declares that God in heaven is the One Who can share all the things that people in the highest places could never begin to know on their own. The world’s highly acclaimed wise men are not able to gain information about the King’s dream. The world’s most powerful king at the time is not able to understand the dream that he has. But these mysteries are not hidden from God. What was true about God then is true about Him today. All that occurs in the past, present, and future has already been seen by the Eternal God. Even all that happens within our minds and hearts is known by Him. While there are limits to human understanding, there are no mysteries for God.

Reflection Questions:

-What does this story teach us about God? What is the extent of His Knowledge and Wisdom?

-How does God’s Knowledge compare with our knowledge?

– Why might it be important to trust in God’s Knowledge? Why might it be difficult to trust in God’s Knowledge?

Prayer: Lord God, not only are You Sovereign, but You are Omnipotent. I praise You for Your unmatched Wisdom and Understanding. I thank You that by Your Grace You help me to know more about You. Show me Your Way, Lord. Although I am limited in knowledge, Your direction is all I need to live in fullness of joy with You. Help me to trust less in myself and more in You. I pray this prayer in Your Holy Name, AMEN.
