Today’s Reading: Psalm 19
The instruction of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise. The precepts of the Lord are right, making the heart glad; the commandment of the Lord is radiant, making the eyes light up.
Psalm 19:7-8
Reflection: Just as the Glory of God is known throughout the heavens – in the rising and setting of the sun, in its warmth and light, in the gathering of clouds and the falling of rain, in the beauty of the moon and stars, in the breadth and height of the skies – so is His Glory known through His Word. For it reveals the Truth which illumines our understanding and exposes all that hides in the darkness. It warms us to His Presence and grants comfort in times of trouble. The Word of God is pure like rain, showering down to nurture and grow the faith of the LORD’s beloved ones. It is a beautiful twinkling hope, made brighter in the darkest night, the promise of God’s Faithfulness. In its sweetness, its great value, its perfection, the Word of the LORD proves the width, length, height, and depth of God’s abundant Love.
The people of God, then, are blessed to have His statues and know His desire for them to hear and obey all that He has declared. The LORD’s kindness is shown in both warning and instruction He gives by His Word. His commands are like the purest gold, the sweetest of honey presented to us to receive. What a gift that our God has provided the best for us, that He has made His Glory known by His Holy Word.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing us by Your Word, by revealing Your Glory through it, and for teaching and guiding us by it. Thank You for loving us enough to give us Your best by Your Word. I know You love me, LORD, because You have been so good to give it. Please help me to trust in Your Word, to follow Your commands, and to do all that You desire. I pray all of these things in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
