Today’s Reading: Psalm 32

How happy is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered!

Psalm 32:1

Reflection: Happy are we because of the LORD’s forgiveness upon us, His children! Although we fail to be righteous in His sight by our own efforts, God by His mercy has forgiven us. Although we have sinned, we have not been charged with the just punishment we have deserved. As long as we have turned to the LORD and confessed our sin before Him, He takes away our guilt.

Why can we come to the LORD blameless, when we have fallen short of His Glory? How can a just and righteous God simply take our sins away? We can stand before God the Father in happiness because of what the Man of Sorrows, Jesus Christ, had endured for our sake. Our transgression has not disappeared into thin air! Our guilt has not simply gone away! No, it has been taken away from us by our Savior, Who put upon Himself our sin. It has been collected by the one spotless Lamb, Who endured the punishment we deserved in order that we would remain unscathed! The price for our happiness, our rescue, was paid for with sadness and pain, and sealed with the Death that Jesus accepted on the Cross. All that He has done to show His love for us magnifies our rejoicing unto Him. The thought of His suffering for our sake prompts grateful joy that He would show us this exquisite Mercy. Do not forget our Lord’s perfect sacrifice! Know that the LORD loved you so much that He gave His only begotten Son, that by faith in Him you would escape death and receive life everlasting. Rejoice, believer! Be happy because of all that He has done.

Prayer: Precious LORD, thank You for Your everlasting love. Thank You for Your faithfulness and goodness. Thank You for not withholding Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross for my sake. Thank You for rescuing me, even in my sin. I praise You for all that You have done for me. I rejoice in the Salvation that You have so freely given. Please help me to remember the Work of Jesus, that I would continue to give You total praise in this time You have given to me. Show me how to live resisting sin, that I would remain near to You. Thank You, LORD. I pray all of these things to You in the Name of Jesus Christ my Lord, AMEN.
