After Israel’s leader Joshua dies, the Israelites learn to go to God directly for guidance and leadership. During this time, since there is no appointed leader over Israel but God Himself, the people must seek help directly from God. In the midst of their first pressing issue, they ask the Lord who should fight for their newly acquired land against the Canaanites. The Lord responds by not only giving them His counsel, but also guaranteeing their victory. He declares that the land will be handed over to Judah when this tribe fights for the land against the Canaanites. God not only provides the answers we seek to address our problems at hand, but also sees us through to the outcome that He arranges on our behalf.
