Today’s Reading: Luke 18:35-43

“Receive you sight!” Jesus told him. “Your faith has healed you.”

Luke 18:42

Reflection: Jesus helps us to see Himself more clearly. As He meets our physical needs, He reveals Himself as the ultimate Provider, the ultimate Source of restoration and salvation. As He provides, He proves over and over again where we can turn to for help. As in the story of the blind man, showing faith in Jesus involves calling out for the Son of David, even when we cannot see where we are, where we are going, or where He is. In the presence of others who may dismiss our desperation, Jesus stops and listens. He invites us to come to Him and pour out our deepest desires. He desires to be our help.

We only need faith to bring the desires of our hearts to Him. He never fails to give true healing and true change in our life that bear witness to His trustworthiness and power. Our meetings with Jesus have weight which impress upon us the desire to follow Him. The blind man sought after Jesus with faith that He could help. And in his encounter with Jesus, the blind man was given eyes to see God’s glory.

Faith in Jesus makes us well because it turns our attention to the Great Healer, our source of restoration. Our seeking after Him and surrender to Him allow Him to work in wondrous ways.

Prayer: Everlasting God, You are the Great Healer. Thank You for opening my eyes to see You more clearly today. Thank You for providing all my needs, great and small. Thank You most of all for Jesus, Who has healed me and made me whole. I love You God. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
