Today’s Reading: Psalm 111

He has caused His wonderful works to be remembered. The Lord is gracious and compassionate.

Psalm 111:4

Reflection: The Lord’s mighty works are wonderful. He deserves all our glory and praise for what He has done. While Creation around us is finite – the grass withers and the flower fades – its beauty and majesty, its impeccable design leaves a lasting impression upon us of the Greatness of God. For these surroundings He needed only to speak into existence. His Holy Voice was enough to direct and move all according to His Will.

God’s Works reflect not only His unmatched ability, but also His unmatched Character. The mountains and valleys, the seas and storms, every creature bears the mark of His wise Design and His providential Sovereignty. Every cell is a sign of His Glory. God not only creates, but also works together His Creation for His Purpose. Every miraculous piece of matter fits into a working tapestry that He weaves as He pleases. Who else could take credit for something this magnificent? How else could we rationally explain the intricacies of the universe other than by the Truth that they are all God’s Creation? Reflecting on what the Lord has done helps us to give ourselves over to His Work in us. The same God Who pieces the universe together has, by His Grace, also fit us into His Mighty Plan. True Wisdom begins where we understand the great Glory of God and allow ourselves to be surrendered to Him.

Prayer: Lord my God, You rule over all Creation in the heavens and the earth. Everything points to You and Your Splendor. You are Master over all things because You created each one by Your Wisdom and Power. What a Mighty God You are, Lord. All praise and glory be to You. I pray that in reflecting upon Your Creation, by experiencing the world You’ve provided, that You would continually remind me of Yourself. Let me never worship the things that have been made by You, Lord, but instead be urged to recall You and Your Glory every time I benefit from Your Great Works. In Jesus’ precious Name I pray, AMEN.
