Today’s Reading: Psalm 47

Sing praise to God, sing praise; sing praise to our King, sing praise! Sing a song of instruction, for God is King of all the earth.

Psalm 47:6-7

Meditation: God’s Kingship gives us cause to rejoice. God alone is the King of kings, for His territory is far wider than the territories of the kings of the earth. While earthly kings quarrel for neighboring lands, the entire earth remains part of God’s domain. His authority also exceeds that of other kings, for He rules over all of the nations. Everything on the earth belongs to Him, including the world’s leaders.

This is our God, the True King. What a blessing it is, then, to give praise to Him, to express our inward joy in His reign in audible and visible ways! Our outward actions of praise to God declare to Him and to others what we believe in our hearts. They profess in physical ways our allegiance and surrender to Him, and our joy in His rule over all things. We acknowledge God as our King when we praise Him. When we sing, shout, and clap God’s praise, our actions join with the unending cries of victory that resound throughout the earth from God’s people, a sweet sound that He can hear from His Holy Throne. Sing loud, believer, give praise to Your God the King! Give praise to God and never stop, for His rule over space and time has neither a beginning nor end. Every sound that you utter unto His Name falls upon His ears with great pleasure. It is our privilege to give praise to God knowing that He hears us. It is a great blessing to rejoice in the truth that our God reigns.

Prayer: Eternal God, You are indeed the King of kings. I give You the highest praise. Thank You for ruling with righteousness and peace, with power and love. Thank You for being my God. Take my praise, LORD, and may all of my thoughts, words and deeds give You glory. In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray, AMEN.
