Today’s Reading: Psalm 107:1-22
Let the redeemed of the Lord proclaim that He has redeemed them from the hand of the foe and has gathered them from the lands- from the east and the west, from the north and the south.
Psalm 107:2-3
Reflection: Let those redeemed by the LORD proclaim His Salvation and eternal love! In proclaiming the great works of the LORD, we count what He has done for His people. There are some who were found wandering, lost and searching for a place to belong, hungering and thirsting for lasting nourishment but finding none in all that was around them. The LORD found them and filled them with His goodness. He has guided them along paths of righteousness for His Namesake, and goodness and mercy have followed these redeemed to the dwelling place of the LORD, which will house them forever. What about the ones imprisoned in darkness and sin, chained to false idols and ensnared by temporal pleasures? Although these rebelled against God’s wise counsel, they cried out to the LORD for help against their enemies and were saved. Not only has God broken the chains that once bound His redeemed, but He has also led them to true freedom found only in Him. And then there are those who have suffered affliction because of their rebellious ways, who loathed God and sought to escape Him at all costs to them. They, too, in their times of trouble were saved by the LORD when they cried out for His saving power. God brought them back to the safety of His own protection and healed them of their wounds.
By the Work of Jesus Christ, the faithful love of God has redeemed the broken, the sinful, the proud, the lost. He has saved all who have cried out for His Salvation. This is the mighty power of the LORD Who alone listened to the cries of His people and went to their aid to rescue them by His Son. This is the wonderful work for which God deserves total praise. Which one of these have we been before the LORD? Which one might we be still?
Prayer: Loving LORD, by Your almighty power and strength I have been saved. By the Work of your Son Jesus Christ, I have been redeemed. Thank You for leading me, for healing me, for nourishing me by Your Truth. Thank You for hearing my cry for help and for answering with far more than I could ever hope for. You are wonderful, LORD. I pray that You help me to remember all that You have done for me. Give me the words of praise to proclaim that declares Your Truth to others and pleases You. I love You LORD, and pray these things in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
