Today’s Reading: Psalm 100
Acknowledge that the Lord is God. He made us, and we are His – His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Psalm 100:3
Reflection
How wonderful and pleasant it is to shout triumphantly to the LORD! How blessed is the opportunity to rejoice in His Truth by the reminder of His marvelous deeds. Recalling what God has done stirs up reason to sing praises to Him and opens our eyes of faith see our Lord clearly as the God of all Creation, the Holy One who has done great things.
Rejoicing in the LORD begins with knowing God. The psalmist says quite simply and profoundly that the LORD is God. Indeed, He is the First and the Last, the Sovereign Providential Ruler over all.
Rejoicing in the LORD flows from knowing our blessed relationship with God. He made us – created us from dust, formed us into His Likeness – and by His Spirit, continues to transform us for His glory.
We are His people, the sheep of His Divine pasture, ever in His loving care. Because we are His, we can enter into His courts to give Him praise. We cannot be kept separate from Him. No longer do burdens weigh down hands meant to be lifted up to Him. No longer are cries of joy stifled by sorrow. His faithfulness supplies all that we could ever hope for through to eternity. His Presence with us is a gift. We rejoice in the LORD our God because He is ours and, praise God, we are His.
