Today’s Reading: Isaiah 25

He will destroy death forever. The Lord God will wipe away the tears from every face and remove His people’s disgrace from the whole earth, for the Lord has spoken.

Isaiah 25:8

Reflection

The Lord has the power and will to execute complete salvation for His people. Today, the world sits under a shroud of sin and death. Even the saved sit under its shadow. But the Prophet Isaiah foretells of a time when God will totally overwhelm and overcome all evil. The Lord by His Faithfulness gives the poor and the humble refuge, and subdues those who mean them harm. He keeps and preserves those whom He loves. But one day, He will completely destroy all sin and death. All evil will be eradicated by His Power. Not only will sin and death be destroyed, but so will be the damage and pain it has inflicted upon God’s people. Every tear, says Isaiah, will be wiped away by God, and all that disgraces the people will be totally removed. This is what God’s total salvation and restoration will look like. It will be complete. On His Holy Mountain, God will not only save His people, but will also prepare a feast for them. After removing the sting of sin and death, He will replace the destruction with His nourishment and fellowship.

This is the joyful hope in our God that we can expect through the return of His Son Jesus. How wonderful is the thought that the sweet bliss of our salvation now is just a taste of what is to come in its fullness! The Lord has spoken: our salvation will be made complete with Him. What a day that will be!

Prayer

Loving God, You are the Provider of all that is Good. You bless with complete Faithfulness and Mercy. You have assured me of Your unfailing Love and Hope of Salvation through Your Son. Thank You, Lord. Without You, I would be lost to sin and death. I would be crushed under the weight of it. Thank You for saving me and restoring me by Your Work on the Cross. I pray that Your Gospel Truth would compel me to keep my eyes fixed on the promise of Jesus’ Return. Please keep me longing for more of You and working diligently to live by Your Faith. I pray these things in Jesus’ Precious Name, AMEN.
