Today’s Reading: Psalm 93

Greater than the roar of many waters- the mighty breakers of the sea- the Lord on high is majestic.

Psalm 93:4

Reflection: The LORD God reigns in majesty and strength. His glory is known in His Sovereign Character which envelops Him like a splendid robe. From the very beginning, God has reigned as Master over all things. Because He created the world, it cannot be shaken, unless by His own doing. There is nothing and no one which possess power comparable to His.

It is important to remember and trust in the majesty of God. The psalmist writes these things about the LORD during what seems like a time of overwhelming difficulty. He is enduring hardship that has become as unbearable as floods rising around him. The waters of suffering roar and crash. But their threats of destruction upon the psalmist do not instill fear within him. Instead, they cause him to recall the LORD his God. Especially in times of struggle, when we ourselves feel weakened or helpless, it is a respite to be reminded of our God Who provides the help we need in all situations. No matter the deafening crash of the waves that surround us, the LORD is far greater, far more powerful, far mightier. He remains our refuge and provides us with His own strength. And it is He Who has provided by His Holy Word a promise of Victory for His people. Just as the earth cannot be shaken, neither can His eternal preservation of those He calls His own.

For those caught in raging storms, be encouraged that while the struggles of the world ebb and flow, sometimes even crash about like waves, the One Who can calm any storm remains ever strong and majestic. He is the Eternal God Who will preserve you in His mighty Hand. He is your God, Who by His Presence meets all of your needs.

Prayer: Lord, Your reign King Eternal in utmost majesty and strength. I praise You that You are powerful and mighty, that You are glorious and gracious. Thank You for Your Word which tells of Your Victory through Jesus. Thank You for the assurance that You keep me as Your own. Your eternal peace and blessed assurance free me from fear and cause me to live in thankfulness to You. I love You Lord, and am grateful to be loved by You. I pray all of these things in the Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, AMEN.
